WHIV June Tour RECAP!!Our Tour Kickoff Show June 6th at The American Legion Hall was outstanding. Tons of kids showed up and we thank all who came out! We thank all the bands: The Moment, Dream in Stereo, Makeup Breakup Repeat, Redstar Redemption, To Be Juliet's Secret, and Phone Calls from Home. Us and Phone Calls got along great from the get go and were very excited to go out on the road together!
Our next date was June 8th in Butler, Pennsylvania. It was an Hot Topic In-Store Acoustic Performance in Clearview Mall! The drive was roughly six hours and we all were so pumped the whole way. We arrived in Butler around 7:30 am and pulled up to Clearview Mall. The mall opened at 10:00 so we entered around then and promoted the show all day long. We walked around with an Ipod and Demo CD's having people listen to our music, letting them know about the Hot Topic show at 7 pm, and if they were interested, suggesting a purchase of our Demo CD. We sold around 40 CD's in the mall! We were so thankful for the support and liking of our music. 7 pm rolled around and a decent amount of kids showed up to watch. We played very well and everyone was into it. Having a place to stay for the night was suprisingly not a problem. We were very thankful for that as well :)
We got up around 6 am the next morning (June 9th) and headed to Bath, Pennsylvania. Bath was a very small town with approx. 2,000 residents. The Venue was Brenda and Jerry's. Load-in was at 5:00. Phone Calls from Home headlined, we were direct support, and three locals played as well. Many kids from the area showed up and their were kids that came to the show to us! That took our breath away. It's so exciting to know people out of state listen to your music but, when you see them in person coming to see you it's overwhelming. We thank everyone who showed up! It was a good show overall and everyone loved the music. We had a place to stay for the night and were extremely thankful for that! Being on the road, sleeping in the van is always a possibility and we were glad we didn't have to for the night.
The next day (June 10th) we had another In-Store Performance at Hot Topic. The Mall was in Bridgewater, New Jersey. On the drive there, all of us watched Dumb and Dumber. Seriously guys, this movie is timeless! It will NEVER get old!! When we arrived at the mall we saw its mammoth size! The traffic inside the mall was outrageous but very exciting. Again, we promoted all day long meeting new friendly people and sold around 45 CD'S!! The food court was the main spot we sold at. Music in Jersey is so respected and supported that almost everyone was down to listen. By 7 pm many people showed up to Hot Topic. The show went over very well and the people in the store enjoyed the music. New fans were made once again! We had a place to stay that night as well :)
The big NY was the next day (June 11th). The Vibe Lounge in Rockville Centre, New York was our destination. Taking Back Sunday and Brand New played here all the time back in the day. That was very exciting to think about! We showed up around 3:00 and stopped at Guitar Center for a little while. Doors were moved to 6:30. Kids came out to see us play and that made us so happy. Two girls drove from 2 hours away to come see us! Mind-blowing. It really was. It made us feel incredible. The show was so much fun and we thank everyone who came out and supported!! Phone Calls from Home did an amazing job and the crowd enjoyed their hype. Talk about a group of guys with talent. We had a place to stay that night and were very thankful :)
Our next show was at the Bogota VFW in Bogota, New Jersey (June 12th). The drive was only going to be a little less than an hour so we visited Times Square, NY. It was incredible. Skyscrapers and tons of people were all around us. Unfortunately we only spent about an hour and a half there but it was well worth it!! Something odd but so funny happened when we were down there. A woman around the age of maybe 65 was dressed up like a cowgirl/rockstar and had a guitar strapped onto herself. She was taking pictures with people and we noticed right away. We could not resist and all took pictures with her!! Apparently she was charging 2 dollars a picture, but we ran off because she was too much of a creep :o
We showed up to Bogota mid-day. This show was not with Phone Calls from Home but the headliner was a well-known punk rock band from the area called Sexy Heroes. The show went very well. The kids who watched had an awesome time when we played and we made tons of new fans. The night was pretty long but it was very fun overall!! Nick, Ron, Aaron and Parker caught the Red Wings Final Game at a nearby bar and were all very disappointed. Parker almost killed someone!! Despite that part not being true, the game still did anger us die hard fans! That night we actually didn't have a place to stay so we camped out in the ol' van for the night in Marlboro, New Jersey (our next destination). Listen to this! We were right by the ocean and Aaron and John went walking around. On their walk Aaron got attacked by a horshoe crab!!! Luckily he wasn't hurt and the whole situation made our night less stressful!
June 13th at the Marlboro Rec Center in Marlboro, New Jersey was our next stop. This was the "Get Heard" Fest w/ Just Surrender, Person L, The Years Gone By, Phone Calls from Home, The Ready Set, Backseat Goodbye, and many others. Roughly 600 kids showed up, maybe more, and were very supportive of all the bands. There were 4 stages throughout the building. We promoted until we played and dressed Nick (drummer) up in WHIV posters saying what time we'd be playing. It was very eye-catching and many kids showed up!! We played very well and were happy about the response from the crowd. Tons of kids signed up for our mailing list, which always makes us so happy. New fans were made and we loved meeting new people!! This was our last show with Phone Calls from Home and we'll miss those guys muchly! Fortunately, we had a place to stay that night and were very thankful. :)
The next day (June 14th) was our day off so we relaxed for a little bit and drove the rest of the day toward Elyria, Ohio. Of course, we all watched Dumb and Dumber again during the 10 hour drive and had a good ol' time!! We showed up in Ohio around 1 am. We ended up sleeping in our van for the night. Which was not that bad. Except, Nick drank way too many energy drinks and was awake the whole night :( June 15th was an In-Store Acoustic at Hot Topic at Midway Mall in Elyria, Ohio. Promoting went really well and we sold a ton of CD's throughout the mall again!! Nick, with more than 30 hours of being awake, promoted hard but felt terrible the whole day :( Good thing he finally got some sleep later on the drive home! A lot of kids showed up that night at 7 pm and we played very well.. New fans checked out our band and loved it! Elyria is only 3 hours away from the Warren, Michigan area so we drove home that night. It was crazy to be back home. Time went by very fast. Even though the tour was for a little over a week, much happened and flew by before we knew it!! :( Yet, it was good to settle down for the night with the family.
June 16th we had a show at the Modern Skate Park in Royal Oak, Michigan with I See Stars, A Second Too Late and many other bands. There was a hassle with the lineup and set times for a bit but it was all figured out in time. An enourmous amount of kids showed up to the venue! The show was pretty long and a lot of bands played. Everyone supported the music and it was a ton of fun for all of us!! We are very satisified with how tour went. We thank every band who played, every fan who supported, and the people who had a place for us to stay for the night. It was an amazing time and we are so pumped for our JULY TOUR with BETWEEN THE TREES and GOOT!
Now we are on a break from tour until July 7th. Which is our July Tour Kickoff with The AUDITION and The HIGHER!!! EVERYONE COME OUT TO THAT BECAUSE IT'S GOING TO BE AMAZING!
